VIRGINIA TECH VISIT

Suzanne and I traveled to Blacksburg this past weekend to visit Morgen...and provide her with a canister of cayenne pepper spray. With the beheading of one student by another three weeks ago, and the terrible tragedy of April 16, 2007, suddenly Morgen was being stalked by an unbalanced male student one floor below. A complaint by another student caused the University to react swiftly and the student from Conneticut was quickly removed from campus and provided "professional help."

We dined at various traditional (historic) restaurants and enjoyed a tour of the beautiful grounds and buildings constructed from "Hokie Stone

It was interesting to note this bridge and three miles of roadway was built nine years ago with Federal and State highway funds for close to $100,000,000 ......and goes nowhere!! There are no funds to take the road an additional THREE miles to I 81. The bridge is closed to the public, but is used by Tech for "expermimental purposes". Meanwhile, under the shadow of the bridge, residents live in poverty.
